Pudendal Neuralgia Conference: The Evaluation and Management of Pudendal Neuralgia: How Any Clinician Can Make a Difference

Pudendal neuralgia (also known as Alcock’s syndrome, Pudendal Canal Syndrome) is a condition caused by an entrapment, compression or tension of the pudendal nerve resulting in pain in the distribution of the pudendal nerve. Pudendal neuralgia is a rare condition and many healthcare providers are unaware of this condition and lack knowledge in the diagnosis, treatment and management of Pudendal Neuralgia. 

Learning Objectives 

At the conclusion of this educational activity, attendees will be able to:

- Discuss the clinical evaluation and diagnosis of pudendal neuralgia
- Describe primary care physicians' impact on the care of patients with pudendal neuralgia and chronic pain
- Review the anatomy and physiology of pelvic pain disorders
- Describe non pharmaceutical and non surgical treatments for chronic pain and pudendal neuralgia
- Integrate the concept of overlapping conditions into the management of patients with chronic pain
- Apply strategies for providing care for a patient with chronic pain or pudendal neuralgia
- Recognize when to refer to a specialist
