RSS Coordinator Training

Overview

This course will provide training for staff who are new to managing CME educational activities. The course will describe what CME is, its components and requirements of conflict of interest (COI).  It will provide cases conflicts of interest and non-conflict of interests. The training will demonstrate how to complete the CME session information and provide various examples. The training will also provide a demonstration on using the learning management system (LMS) for complete CME requirements.

The training consist of three modules: 

Module 1 - What is CME

Module 2 - Disclosure Forms, Conflict of Interests (COI), and Session Information Sheets (SIS)

Module 3 - CloudCME Video Demonstrations


Objectives
  1. 1. Define continuing medical education and regularly scheduled series (RSS)
  2. 2. Explain the role of the RSS Coordinator and its responsibilities
  3. 3. Perform data entry tasks using the LMS
  4. 4. Assess disclosure form and differentiate speakers with conflict of interests (COI) and speakers without COIs using the standard disclosure form, per ACCME guidelines
  5. 5. Create session information sheets using the disclosure form

The University of Maryland School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The University of Maryland School of Medicine designates this Live activity for a maximum of 1.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Goal:  Use CloudCME to managing RSS functions

Audience: Administrative Assistants, Coordinators, and Academic Specialist managing RSS educational activities

 

Objectives: At the end of the training, learners will be able to:

1. Enter and upload documentation using CloudCME 

2. Record attendance manually in CloudCME

Module 2    Disclosure forms, Conflict of Interest (COI) and Session Information Sheets

 

Goal:  Review disclosure forms and session information sheets and understand the importance of a COIs.

Audience: Administrative Assistants, Coordinators, and Academic Specialist managing RSS educational activities
 

Objectives: At the end of the training, learners will be able to:

1.   Assess disclosure form and differentiate speakers with conflict of interests (COI) and speakers without COIs using the standard disclosure form

2.  Identify the various sections of the session information sheet.

 

Review the enclosed PowerPoint presentation video.  This video will discuss disclosures, conflict of interest and go over sessions information sheets
