Objectives
  1. Evaluate the pros and cons of prevention strategies to reduce the incidence of diabetes before, during and after pregnancy
  2. Identify patients at highest risk for pregnancy complications by recognizing the mechanisms that lead to adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes
  3. Identify patients at higher risk for adverse pregnancy outcomes due to obesity complications and adjust care during the preconception period and gestation
  4. Identify tools to modify risk factors in the postpartum period to reduce incidence of or complications from diabetes
  5. Discuss interventions to reduce risks due to hypertension in pregnancy, including preeclampsia
  6. Recognize the social determinants of health in caring for patients at high risk for pregnancy complications due to comorbidities or health disparities
